Opened in September 2004, the Glass House Mountains Ecolodge provides a unique style of accommodation situated in an organic orchard.

Located at the foot of Mount Tibrogargan, the Ecolodge is ideally located to explore the majestic peaks of the Glasshouse Mountains area, visit Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo - just 10 minutes drive - or take a leisurely 30 minutes drive to one of the many beaches of the Sunshine Coast.

Each Orchard room opens onto a deck overlooking the orchard and from which there is a spectacular view of Mt. Tibrogargan.

Forest Family rooms open to a rainforest view.

All rooms have a queen size bed and ensuite.

Guests may wish to take advantage of the kitchen located in a restored Queensland Rail carriage for preparing their own meals, and the fully restored Lounge carriage for games and swap library.

A self serve continental style breakfast is available for purchase at the office on check-in.

Advice on local attractions is provided and tours can be booked at the office.

Each Orchard room has polished floors, a private en-suite and an outdoor deck with table and chairs and spectacular views of Mt. Tibrogargan.

Orchard Rooms contain a queen size bed.

One Orchard Room has an additional single bed and is available as a triple room. It is called the Beerwah Room.

These rooms have private en-suite, tiled floors and an outlook to the forest area.

Family Rooms contain a queen size bed and two single bunk beds.

Maximum of 4 people per room.

Cool and comfortable rooms with Queen size bed and two single bunk beds (one above the other).
Outside patio with table and seating with views of the garden and forest area. Self catering kitchen in separate railway carriage, complimentary tea and coffee.
It is possible to add a trundle or fold out bed or portacot in some rooms.
There is a separate well equipped guests self catering kitchen located a few metres away with refrigerator and freezer, gas cook top and outside BBQ.

Suitable for a family or two couples travelling together.
Contains two separate rooms that have separate entrances to the bathroom.
* Queen Room contains a queen size bed, polished floors, air-conditioning and a sofa.
* Second Room contains two single beds (one in the loft above) and its own separate entrance.
A fold out bed is available for a small child at extra cost.
This suite has a large covered area with deck furniture to sit, relax and enjoy the views.

A delightfully cool luxurious, self contained bungalow for couples.
Set amongst palm trees with a tropical ambience and outside sitting area, the 2 room bungalow has timber shutters with lots of individual touches such as an ancient Balinese timber door leading into the bedroom.
A great place to enjoy that special weekend, celebration or surprise gift for anyone desiring peace, quiet and privacy.
The second room of the Bungalow has its own fully equipped kitchen, dining and lounge area.

Both rooms have split system air conditioning.
Self cater here or enjoy the many award winning restaurants within half an hour’s drive.

 
The Church

This beautifully restored 120 year old timber church is a special space for that important celebration or intimate weekend for two.
There is a queen bedroom in the loft of the church, a huge open plan lounge and dining area, a mini kitchen and a spacious bathroom.
The church is also a great venue for boutique corporate events, retreats, workshops, team building events and similar occasions.

Ideally suited for those on a budget or wanting an extended stay.
Own shower and toilet linked by a covered walkway outside of the room.
Bunk Rooms contain a double bunk bed with a single bed on top.

 

Things to do:

Sit quietly in the forest by the creek and listen to the birds and the breeze sighing through the trees. The Ecolodge is a calm and peaceful place to relax.

The Ecolodge has two short self guided walks on the property.

* The Orchard Walk allows you to use thr tropical fruits guidebook to wander amongst the 60 tropical and exotic fruits that have been planted at the Ecolodge over the past 20 years. Taste and smell the fruits and nuts in season. It is all yours to enjoy.

* The Bush Tucker Walk allows you to meander through the regrowth rainforest and creek area. The owners and guests have planted hundreds of trees here to regenerate this once weed infested creek area. Use the Ecolodge self guided bush tucker booklet to discover the different types of native foods and nuts available in the rainforest.

 

Go frog spotting with the children.

After a long day out exploring why not relax in the Lounge car/library which has a range of novels, board games and chess. There is a series of guide books about environmental projects being undertaken at the Ecolodge and binoculars are available for bird watching.

Within half and hour's drive or a lot closer are Australia Zoo, fresh water lakes for swimming, picnics and BBQ's, art galleries, award winning restaurants, beaches, mountain and rainforest walks with waterfalls, mountain climbing and abseiling, kayaking, hot air ballooning.

Outings to Fraser Island and whale watching can be arranged.

There are numerous walking tracks in the surrounding National Parks; Two of them start 400 metres from the entrance of the Ecolodge. Use a free map of the walks in the region or you can buy a more detailed book. Take a packed lunch and off you go!
